Y/BPS


	Y/BPS staff members – all Boston parents ourselves – have offices in local branches of the YMCA. We hold workshops in both English and Spanish and meet individually with families like yours who want to learn about the Boston Public Schools (BPS). We answer questions about the school system and school choice, explain how and when to visit schools, and help you think about how to find a good school match for your child. Our workshops are held at YMCAs, libraries, pre-schools, community centers, local businesses, churches and temples, people’s homes, and other locations. We follow up with individual families who want additional information or support. Members of the Y/BPS Speakers Bureau – a diverse group of current BPS parents – participate in the workshops to share their experiences with you. Y/BPS also provides outreach grants to lesser-known schools, improving their ability to inform families about the programs and opportunities at each school.
